Anthony Joshua beats Andy Ruiz to Reclaims World Heavyweight Champion

From Anthony Joshua’s ring walkout and the background Fela’s “water no get enemy” music you could sense he didn’t come to play. The quick feet, urgency and sheer will all accentuated his determination to regain his titles. And he gave Andy Ruiz a cut quite early on, I mean the first round.

The 8th round saw AJ fighting with so much professionalism and discipline that Ruiz could only be frustrated. AJ kept his distance and landed all the jabs right.

The performance was very Lennox Lewis Vs Mike Tyson esque but by the 9th round AJ was tiring out by the way he fought through the first 8 rounds.Take nothing away from Ruiz though, he throws some very fast punches too but he’s been kept at arm’s length and left frustrated for most part of the night.

Also noteworthy, is the fact that Muhammad Ali, Lennox Lewis and Floyd Patterson were the only men in history to regain the world heavyweight title in a direct rematch.

Anthony Joshua has put on the best performance of his career to become the fourth.

AJ boxed Ruiz to perfection! Outstanding discipline, focus and ring IQ. Learned the lessons of the last fight and that bodes well for future contests.

Heavyweight Champion again!
