Bozimo Charges Legal Officers On Diligence, Honesty

The Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice Delta State, Isaiah Bozimo Esq, has charged legal officers across the country to perform their duties with diligence, honesty without fear or interference.

Bozimo gave this charged on the occasion of the Law Officers Association Of Nigeria (LOAN ) National Executive Committee Meeting/ Award Dinner Night held at Asaba, Delta state.

Bozimo noted that legal officers are central to the operation of the Federal and States Ministries of Justice.

He said “if the society is to have faith in our legal system, not only must they be assured that our judiciary is free from bias, and unafraid to make unpopular decisions in the face of powerful interest, they must also have legal officers that are willing to prosecute or defend their rights and advocate cases without fear or favor. ”

He emphasized that the legal profession has been recognized internationally as one of the key elements of a civilized society and the backbone of a free Democratic Nation.

While congratulating the Association and members of NEC for the successes recorded so far, he said, the Association is blessed with great minds, saying that their deliberations will bring positive benefits to the legal profession and our Nation in General.

He commended the National President of LOAN , Mr Yusuf Abdullahi Abdulkadir and his team for organizing this year’s National Executive Committee (NEC) Meeting with the theme; ” The Role Of Legal Officers In A Democratic Nation” .

Adding that the theme captures the current mood in our Nation and as well provides a platform for the law officers to improve their calling as officers in the temple of Justice.

Chief Judge of Delta State, Hon Justice Theresa Diai, who was ably represented by Justice Okolosi, stated that it was remarkable and heart-warming to observe that the law officers Association Of Nigeria which started few years back as a small interactive forum in a few pioneer States such as Delta State, has now metamorphosed into a formidable, well-organised body with chapters in all the 36 states of the Federation and Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

She said the Association will provide the needed platform to discuss critical issues affecting the wellbeing of the law officers, their environment, productivity, and other related matters

Chairman , Nigeria Bar Association,NBA, Welfare Committee, Mr. Yakubu Chinoko Maikyau SAN, commended the Association for her dedication in promoting the welfare of law officers in the various Ministries of Justice in Nigeria.

That he is supporting LOANS efforts in deploying all available legal processes to attain a status that will ensure a more efficient and effective realization of the benefits of the service that law officers offer to the society.

The Chairman of LOAN Delta State Chapter, Thomas Anigala Esq, said, this year’s LOANS NEC meeting is the second of its kind.

He advised that Law Officers in the Ministry of Justice to play a vital role in the maintenance of law, peace, and order in the state by prosecuting all criminal cases and defending all civil suits instituted against all state government agencies, noting that law officers equally play vital role in enacting some executive bills that bridge the gap between the government of the state and it’s citizens and also draft all government contracts.

He lauded the state governor, Senator (Dr) Okowa, for appointing Mr Isaiah Bozimo Esq, a man he described as very intelligent, result oriented and a goal getter into the Ministry of Justice, stressing that within the shortest time, Bozimo has assumed office, he has performed his duties excellently well in providing good welfare packages and trainings for legal officers in the Ministry of Justice.
