Fight Economic Crimes, Obaseki Urges Corp Members

The Edo State Governor,Mr Godwin Obaseki has urged corps members of the state to join government in the developmental strides and fight against economic crimes,child trafficking and other vices through mass and adult literacy programmes.

Obaseki made the call during the Swearing-In Ceremony of 2020 Batch ‘A’ Stream I Corps members at the National Youth Service Corp(NYSC) Orientation Camp on Thursday in Okada.

“We are delighted to identify with the NYSC scheme in the state sequel to its numerous developmental contributions to the state”.

“It is noteworthy that the contributions of the scheme particularly in Edo state,has over the years impacted positively on our people and has contributed immensely to the development of rural areas through various community development embarked on by your predecessors”.

“As good ambassadors of the scheme,I expect you to be actively involved in community healthcare delivery services and other programmes put in place by our administration”,he said.

He said the Edo state government would continue to support the scheme in achieving its laudable objectives in the state.

Hon Lawani Damian,Commissioner for Youth and Special Duties who also spoke,charged the corps members to interact and integrate with one another as well as course officials,to ensure success of the orientation camp.

“I have no doubt in my mind that you will find the one year national service most exciting and rewarding,as the good people of Edo State are well disposed to visitors”.

“Our people would readily support you with everything possible to make you succeed in your quest towards leaving Edo state better than you met it”,he said.

Mr Adebayo Ojo,Edo State Coordinator of NYSC advised the 2020 Batch ‘A’ Stream I corps members to not entertain panic about the recent killer disease Corona Virus(COVID-19) which is fast spreading.

He said the management of NYSC has made sanitizers and hand washing materials available at strategic locations at the camp aimed at preventing the dreaded disease.

Adebayo thanked the Edo State Governor,Mr Godwin Obaseki for the massive construction works ongoing at the NYSC permanent Orientation camp in Okada.
