Gunmen kill Delta polytechnic Non Teaching staff.

A senior employee of the Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashi-Uku, Chukwudi John, has been killed by unknown gunmen at Ogwashi-Uku in the Aniocha South Local Government Area of the state barely a month after a contract staff of the institution, Prince Chukwuedo, was killed on the school premises.

John was reportedly shot dead on Wednesday at the Mega Chi Bar junction in Ogwashi-Uku.

It was gathered that the late John, popularly called Mr Biggi, was shot six times at a close range, while leaving the bar, but nothing was taken from him.

However, the circumstances that led to his gruesome murder were yet unknown.

The Public Relations Officer of the institution, Manfred Oyibode, who confirmed the incident, said, “The police are handling the matter. It will not be wise for me to make a categorical statement on it now.

“He was not killed on the school premises. The news that filters in says the young man was just coming out from the bar when unknown persons shot him. He was not a lecturer, but a non-teaching staff member of the polytechnic.

Also, confirming the incident, the Commissioner of Police, Delta State, Adeleke Adeyinka, said no arrest had been made, adding that information on John’s death remained scanty.

Adeyinka stated that the deceased was an administrative staff member of the polytechnic and not a lecturer.
