Delta Assembly confirms appointment of Auditor General

The Delta House of Assembly on Wednesday confirmed the appointment of Paul Aghanenu as the Auditor General of the state.

Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa had earlier forwarded the nominee’s name to the assembly for screening and confirmation.

The confirmation followed a motion moved by the Majority Leader of the house, Tim Owhefere, during plenary in Asaba.

The motion was seconded by the Deputy Majority Leader, Oboro Preyor.

The member representing Ughelli North I Constituency, Charles Oniyere, had earlier introduced the chartered accountant and added that he had been on acting capacity.

Ruben Izeze (PDP-Ughelli South), also said that Aghanenu was fit for the position and expressed hope that as a competent hand, he would ensure transparency in office.

The nominee was confirmed after the Speaker, Sherrif Oborevwori, put it to voice vote.
