An Ile-Ife Magistrates’ Court in Osun on Wednesday ordered that an 18-year-old applicant, Costly Friday, who allegedly attacked a housewife with a scissors, be remanded in prison.
The police charged Friday with five counts of conspiracy, housebreaking, entering, assault and robbery.
The defendant, who was not legally represented, however, pleaded not guilty.
Magistrate Olukunle Owolawi, who did not admit the defendant to bail, ordered that he be remanded in Ile-Ife prison custody.
Owolawi adjourned the case until Aug 30, for hearing.
Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Insp Sunday Osanyintuyi, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on July 24, around 8 p.m. at Ilupeju off Oke-Ogbo, Ile-Ife.
Osanyintuyi alleged that the defendant conspired with others, at large, to commit the offece.
He alleged that the defendant broke into the house of Mulekanle Adebola, with intent to commit felony and also attacked her with a scissors, inflicting grievous injuries on her right hand.
The prosecution also alleged that the defendant stole N15,000 belonging to Adebola.
The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of sections 355, 401, 402, 403, 411 and 412 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002.
