Delta Force FC beat Rangers 2-1 in pre-season friendly

Delta Force FC of Asaba, Delta, have defeated Rangers International of Enugu 2-1 in a pre-season match played in Asaba, the Delta capital.

Rangers spokesperson, Norbert Okolie made this known to newsmen on Friday in Enugu.

Okolie said that the match was played in Asaba as the two teams prepared for the forthcoming season and Rangers Continental competition.

“We conceded the first goal from a spot kick converted by Obinna Bassey toward the end of the first 45 minute.

“Ifeanyi George, equalised for us from a spot kick as well after the interval.

“’The home team had the last laugh of the day when Kasali Moshood made it 2-1 with 10 minutes to full-time,” he said in statement.

Okolie noted that the club’s caretaker coach, Benedict Ugwu, expressed dismay over his players loss of concentration to the home team which resulted in the second goal.

Ugwu said that the match was a good and tough one that stretched his players.

“We did our best but we lost to a more determined side because our best was not good enough on the day.

“The technical crew have noticed the weak link and shall go back to rectify them for a better outing next time,” he said.

Okolie said that the club will engage FC Ifeanyiuba Ubah in another pre-season friendly at Nero Sports Stadium, Nanka in Orumba North Local Government of Anambra before their continental competitions.

Rangers will face A S Pelican of Gabon in the first league of their CAF Confederation Cup on Sept. 13 in Gabon.
