Independence Day Celebration: NGO embarks on anti-cultism march in Ughelli


A non-governmental organization, Teletele Foundation has embarked on anti-cultism march along major streets in Ughelli, headquarters of Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State.

The march which kicks off by 07.00 hours of October 1, 2019 is scheduled to mark the 59th Independence celebration of Nigeria with a strong message to Nigerians, especially those in the youth bracket to shun cultism, drug abuse and trafficking, prostitution human trafficking, ritual killings, armed robbery, kidnapping, public facilities vandalism, racism amongst other vices that have made the society unsafe and insecure for Nigerians to live.

Addressing newsmen shortly before the take-off, the coordinator of the march which is tagged “Make Money, Not War”, Nwanze kenneth Onyeamaechi, noted that Nigeria at 59 ought to be a society that is peaceful and secure to live in, adding that cultism, drug abuse, kidnapping and other vices already identified were responsible for the insecurity situation in the country.

He noted that Nigeria’s economy has been adversely affected and the standard of lives of Nigerians continue to dwindle, no thanks to the increasing crime waves in our society.

The Foundation which is collaborating with a business outfit, the Teecasual Signature, appealed to parents and guardians to inculcate good moral upbringing in their wards and children, noting that where the moral foundation of a child is unsound, such a child is vulnerable to societal vices.

The organizers of the march emphasized that it chose to carry out the event on the eve of Nigeria achieving three scores as a nation, adding that it was very critical and necessary for the country to be ushered into its first three scores next year with complete break from the past and the birth of a new Nigeria.

The which is scheduled to take off from a popular car wash in Ughelli at 07.00 hours is billed to take the organizers through major streets in Ughelli metropolis.
