A popular shopping mall in Abia state, called “Abia Shopping Mall”, which houses many shopping outlets, including Shoprite has been recently shut down.
Customers who visited for their usual shopping were disappointed to see the shopping mall sealed off by a Federal High Court.
It was gathered that the gates were locked and customers, who had come for shopping, wore sad faces because they couldn’t make their planned purchases.
A notice on the front security room read, “Possession taken by receiver manager of Ecobank over Abia Retail Co Limited by order of court dated 17/12/19, FHC/L/LC/19”
Sources said Ecobank sealed the mall over unpaid loans.
