Allege Blackmail: Call the sponsors of this madness to order, Hon. Waive urged Urhobo Leaders

The Honourable Member Representing Ughelli North, Ughelli South, and Udu Federal Constituency, at the House of Representatives, Hon. Francis Waive, has called on elders and leaders of Urhobo nation, to prevail on the sponsors of the civil society groups calling for the resignation of the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, to henceforth stop what he described as madness, saying that he will not be quiet and watch detractors working tirelessly to destroy what God has blessed the Urhobos with.

A coalition of seven civil society organisations (CSOs) has called for the immediate resignation of the Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, over his alleged committal of forgery and perjury in Los Angeles in the United States in 1996.

This, the group stated, was in contravention of the provisions of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended).

The coalition under the aegis of Coalition of Civil Society and Youth Groups, convened by Solomon Adodo, also threatened that in the event that its call was not heeded, it would be left with no other option than to mobilise thousands of CSOs and youth groups to occupy the National Assembly until it is purged of corrupt elements.

But in a swift response, Omo-Agege, however, stated that he had long been cleared of the perjury allegation in the United States.

Reacting to this, Hon. Francis who said no ethnic nationality progresses by fighting their own, urges all well Nigerians to resist detractors who are bent on denting the image of Omo-Agege.

In a statement he personally signed, Hon. Francis said “As the Honourable member representing Ughelli North Ughelli South Udu Constituency in the House of Representatives I just can’t be quiet when I see detractors working hard to destroy our own.

“No ethnic nationality in this country engages in fighting her top government functionaries. The Almighty God has blessed us for the first time in history with someone at the top in the Federal Government. We must not allow miscreants to rubbish our blessing for any reason.

“I call on our leaders to reach out to these fifth columnists and their sponsors individually and stop this madness. His Excellency Distinguished Senator Ovie Omo-Agege is well positioned in this Next Level government to bring us our share of the national cake. And good enough he is taking the bull by the horn. All distractions must stop forthwith to enable our people derive the maximum benefits from his position. We must look beyond individual benefits and grudges to the common and greater good of us all.”

Hon. Francis, while assuring the deputy president of the senate his continuous support, enjoined him to pay deaf ears to mischief makers and focus on bettering the lives of his people.

“I call on our Distinguished Senator to overlook the noise of the mischief makers and concentrate on his divine assignment for our people. Such is the prize rare men called for such a time as this have to pay. And our God remains faithful to protect and bless you.

“I assure His Excellency of my continued support, prayers and goodwill as he continues to work for our people.
