COVID-19:MWAN Edo create awareness in social media,offers free sanitizers

The Medical Women Association of Nigeria (MWAN), Edo branch have organized free online awareness classes on Facebook in order to create awareness about Corona Virus (COVID-19).

Dr Adesuwa Urhoghide-Edigin, the President of MWAN in Edo disclosed this in an interview with newsmen on Thursday in Benin.

“Even though we face hard times, Mwan Edo will like to use this medium to encourage and also educate the public on the ongoing COVID 19 pandemic in Nigeria. Nigeria thus far has recorded 51 cases, one in Edo state”.

“We however do not know how many are presently carriers in the state, thus the need for social distancing cannot be over emphasized”.

“Mwan Edo from today would be live on Facebook to educate the public on Corona Virus.

“This is part of measures taken by MWAN to sensitize and create awareness about Corona Virus disease through the social media”.

“The association is working effectively to see everyone in the state aware about COVID-19”.

“Free hand sanitisers would be manufactured and shared around the health centres,orphanages and markets”.

“We have produced flyers and educative posters to educate the public”.

” Stay at home if you do not offer essential services. If you are ill, and have a history of recent travel to a country with COVID 19, please stay at home. Only come to the hospital if you have difficulty breathing or other life threatening illnesses. If your illness is not an emergency, stay at home”.

” Please remember to cough or sneeze into tissue paper and discard it properly. Please do not do it onto your palms or out in the open. Do not spit on the floor”.

“In line with Mwan motto, “Healing with the love of a mother”, MWAN Edo says please be calm and avoid panic”,she said.

She advised the general public to practice social distancing,avoid social gatherings,avoid ill people,eat fruits always to boost immune system and main a high level of hygiene.
