DESOPADEC Board Member Awards Scholarships to 20 Indigent Students

Kwale, Delta State – The Hon. Member Representing the Ndokwa Ethnic Nationality on the governing board of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, DESOPADEC, Dr. Charles Olisa, has awarded scholarships to 20 indigent students to study their choice courses at Bellarks Polytechnic, Kwale, Delta State.

Dr. Olisa presented the admission letters to the beneficiaries at a ceremony held at the polytechnic on Wednesday, February 14, 2024. He said the scholarships were part of his human capital development initiatives for the Ndokwa people, especially the youths.

He also encouraged the students to pursue their education with diligence and passion, saying that the pen will always be mightier than the sword, and education is not a scam. He urged them to make the best use of the opportunity and become agents of positive change in their communities.

The event was graced by several traditional rulers from the Ndokwa ethnic group, who lauded Dr. Olisa for his generosity and vision. HRM Austine Oghenejabor, the Odiologbo of Ibrede kingdom, said Dr. Olisa’s gesture will leave a lasting benefit among the people of the mandate area. He also advised the students to be focused and disciplined in their academic pursuits.

The rector of the Bellarks Polytechnic, Kwale, Dr. Egbule Solomon, who spoke earlier also expressed his appreciation to Dr. Olisa for choosing the institution as the venue for the scholarship scheme. He said any investment channeled into education is major effort to lay a groundwork for the development of the youths and the society in general. He assured Dr. Olisa and the students of the quality and standard of education offered by the polytechnic.

The scholarship beneficiaries, who were selected from various communities in the Ndokwa ethnic group, expressed their gratitude to Dr. Olisa for his kindness and support. They promised to work hard and excel in their studies, and also to contribute to the development of their communities and the state

at large.
