The Dunamis International Gospel Centre (DIGC) has issued an apology to Ms. Anyim Veronica Nnenna after a controversial incident during her testimony at the Glory Dome in Abuja on Sunday.
Dr. Paul Enenche, the Senior Pastor of DIGC, expressed regret over the incident, clarifying that it was never his intention to embarrass Ms. Anyim during her testimony about graduating with a law degree after ten years.
The controversy arose when a video of Ms. Anyim’s testimony went viral, leading to accusations from some quarters that the church had publicly embarrassed her by questioning the authenticity of her testimony.
In a statement issued by Sylvester Edoh, the Personal Assistant/Secretary to the Senior Pastor, on Monday, the church acknowledged that Ms. Anyim had indeed graduated with a law degree. The statement also revealed that Dr. Enenche had personally reached out to Ms. Anyim to express his concern.
The statement read: “On Sunday, April 14, 2024, at the Glory Dome in Abuja, Ms. Anyim Veronica Nnenna testified about her journey to becoming the first graduate in her family. However, certain aspects of her testimony led to immediate concerns.
“Dr. Paul Enenche halted her testimony, suspecting inconsistencies in her claims about her academic background. These concerns included discrepancies in her spoken English, the duration of her law studies, and the nature of her law degree.
“Subsequent verification confirmed Ms. Anyim’s graduation from a university, prompting the church to issue an apology for any embarrassment caused. Dr. Enenche has personally reached out to Ms. Anyim to express his regret and concern.
“While the church remains committed to upholding standards of excellence and truth, it acknowledges that the situation could have been handled differently to avoid causing harm or embarrassment to Ms. Anyim.
“We sincerely regret any inconvenience and hurt caused to Ms. Anyim Veronica Nnenna and remain committed to supporting her both spiritually and physically. God bless us all.”
