Edo Governor Charge Corp Members to Develop State

Edo State governor, Godwin Obaseki, has charged corps members posted to the state to see their deployment as an act designed by God to contribute their quota to the development of the state during the periods of their service year.

Obaseki represented by the Commissioner for Youths and Special Duty, Damian Lawani, made the assertion during the swearing-in ceremony of the 2019 batch ‘C’ stream II orientation course in Okada on Monday.

He said the scheme over the years had impacted positively on the people of the state and more so to the development of the rural areas through various community development projects embarked upon by their predecessors.

Obaseki said the corps members have contributed positively to the educational, social and economic development of the people of the state particularly those at the rural areas.

The governor said he is delighted to have identified with the scheme sequel to its numerous developmental contributions to the state adding that his government will continue to support the scheme in achieving its laudable objectives in the state.

He further urged them to take their service year seriously and be prepared to make sacrifices that national service will demand from them.

On the part of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) State Coordinator, Mr. Adebayo Ojo said at the end of the orientation course exercise, the corps members would be posted to specific areas of critical needs for the enhancement of rural healthcare delivery, education, rural infrastructure and agricultural development in the various parts of the state for their national service.

Ojo said their posting to these key sectors are targeted at partnering the state government in these areas, towards ensuring rural development, national integration and youth empowerment.
