Igbakpa tasks Delta constituents on setting agenda for elected representatives

A member of the House of Representatives, Rep. Ben Igbakpa (PDP-Delta), has charged constituents to set agenda for their elected representatives.

Igbakpa who represents Ethiope East/Ethiope West Federal Constituency of Delta, made the call while receiving students of Delta State Company Technical High School Ovwianalaja, in Abuja.

Igbakpa pledged that efforts would be made to revive the Delta State Company so that the funds already invested will not go down the drain.

“I want to call on all those who are knowledgeable in that area to come up and set agenda.

“It is not enough to vote for people to come to the National Assembly, we need to follow them up with prayers and agenda setting.

“If there is no contract, there will be no violation; there is need to set a social contract for anybody voted into office and ensure they deliver.

“Nobody knows it all; our people should learn to set agenda for their representatives so that they would be a check list to look up to.

“I am saying this to all Deltans, I am saying this to all Nigerians,” he said.

According to the lawmaker, “We are here to legislate in areas that will enable the company to come to life again and create jobs.

Igbakpa said that there were nations surviving solely on steel production and that they did not have better raw materials than Nigeria.

“So, be rest assured that we are going to look in that direction to ensure the company come back to life.

“I want to call on the Federal Government, the Ministry of Mines and Steel to look at the Delta company with the view to revive it,” he added.

Earlier, Lucky Udwophori, who led the children, said that the delegation had come to congratulate Igbakpa on his victory in the 2019 General Election.

She said that they were in Abuja for excursion and they had come to visit their representatives in the house.
