Igbinedion Varsity honour Goodluck Jonathan, others

The former Nigerian President, Goodluck Jonathan, has been commended for affecting g positively while in office.

The Chancellor of Igbinedion University Okada (IUO),Sir Dr. Gabriel Igbinedion, made the commendation during the 17th Convocation Ceremony of the institution in okada, where Goodluck Jonathan, was conferred with an honorary Doctorate Degree of Science.

The chancellor said the former president was honored because of his positive contributions to human development and progress at the national and global levels.

“Today is very significant in my life not only because of the caliber of personalities being honoured,but more so because of the presence of the Former President of Nigeria who is a true democrat”.

“Former President Jonathan showed his love for Nigeria when he declared during his presidential campaign in 2015 that his presidential ambitions is not worth the blood of any Nigerian”,he said.

Speaking at the event, Jonathan commended the Esama for his doggedness as the pioneer investor in private university education in the country.

The former president showered encomiums on Igbinedion saying his legacies, particularly in the education sector have continued to dictate the pace for other private universities to follow.

In his speech, the Pro Chancellor and Chairman of Governing Council of Igbinedion University Okada(IUO), Prof Sheikh Abdullah, congratulated the Former president and others for a prestigious award.

“Honorary degrees are given to honor eminent personalities because of their improvement of national development,” he said.

Four eminent personalities were conferred with honorary degrees to include:Former President Goodluck Jonathan(Doctor of Science),Prof Olu Aina(Professor Emeritus),His Majesty Oba Saheed Elegushi(Doctor of Business) and Omotola Jalande-Ekeinde(Doctor of Arts).
