The daughter of the Chairman of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), Anita Nani, recently tied the knot with Major Bulus Shunah in a grand wedding ceremony that took place at St Peter’s Anglican Church, Jesse, Ethiope West Local Government Area, Delta State.
The wedding and traditional marriage, which took place on April 24 and 26, 2024, was attended by the Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, as well as top government officials, traditional rulers, dignitaries from across the country, and captains of industry.

The bride, who looked stunning in her white wedding gown, was given away by her father, Olorogun John Obukowho Nani, who beamed with pride throughout the ceremony.
Major Bulus Shunah, who is a serving military officer, was smartly dressed in his full military regalia, and couldn’t take his eyes off his beautiful bride as they exchanged vows.
The ceremony was officiated by a renowned clergyman, Bishop of the Warri Diocese, Rt. Rev. Christian Ide, who urged the couple to build their marriage on the foundation of love, trust, and mutual respect.
Rt. Rev. Christian Ide, who was represented by the Bishop of the Oleh Diocese, Rev. John Usiwoma Aruakpor, delivered a sermon titled “Walk with God and one another in all you do,” which was based on Psalm 127:1. In his sermon, he further urged the couple to walk together in unity and partner with God in all their endeavors.
Speaking during the wedding, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, who expressed his heartfelt joy at witnessing the wedding ceremony, enjoined the couple to adhere to the priest’s teachings.
“We are happy to be here and you can see that the who is who in the state are here because of our brother, the father of the bride, Chief John Nani who is very loved and highly respected by the people here.
“He is a good man and very well respected in Idjerhe Kingdom and we are happy to join him today as his daughter marries her hearthrob.”
The reception, which followed immediately after the ceremony, at the Atlantic Club, Sapale, was a colorful and lively affair, with guests treated to a sumptuous buffet and live music.
The ceremony also has in attendance, immediate past Governor of the State, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Emomotimi Guwor, State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr Kingsley Esiso, Senator Emmanuel Aguariavwodo, former member House of Representives Hon. Halims Agoda, Hon. James Augoye, members of the State Executive Council, among other dignitaries.
Earlier, on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, Olorogun John Nani formally gave his daughter, Anita Nani’s hand in marriage to Major Bulus Shunah, in accordance with the traditional laws and customs of the Urhobo ethnic group.
The traditional marriage ceremony took place at the country home of Olorogun John Nani and was attended by members of both families, traditional rulers, and dignitaries from the community.
