In actualizing his MORE Agenda in physical development, Delta state governor, Rt Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori has flagged off construction of Eight (8) additional duplexes in Commissioner’s quarter to the twenty-two (22) existing ones.

Governor Oborevwori noted during the groundbreaking ceremony at Asaba, that the additional commissioner’s quarter is part of ongoing efforts to improve physical infrastructure development, synergy, and service delivery in the state.

The Governor maintained that when Commissioners live together, there is a sense of belonging, adding that the issue of security and personal safety become imperative.

According to his statement, “When you live together, there is a sense of belonging, there is also an issue of security and personal safety because living together makes Commissioners bond together.”

Oborevwori added that the additional quarter becomes necessary to meet the needs of the additional specialize ministries over the years as the number of Commissioners has exceeded the houses currently in the estate.

In his words, “It is my desire for every Commissioner to live in the distributed official quarters. As a responsive and responsible administration, I have decided to meet this need by adding eight (8) duplexes”.

He continued, “the addition of a specialized Ministry over the years, and the number of Commissioners needed exceeds the number of houses currently in the estate. As a result, some commissioners often feel left out and do not enjoy the sense of community of living in the quarters together.

In his welcome address earlier, the Commissioner for Housing, Hon. Godknows Angele noted that the 22 duplexes builds during former Governor Chief James Ibori is now grossly inadequate for the present number of Commissioners in this present administration.

Hon. Angele added that this inadequacy has informed His Excellency, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, to approve the speedy execution of the project so that all Commissioners can settle down to work in a secure and serene environment.

Hon. Godknows, however, implores the contractor to reciprocate this gesture by showing due diligence and dedication to maintain high-quality standards and timely completion of the works to achieve the overall benefit of this project.
