Suspended EFCC Chairman Honours DSS Invitation

The suspended Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Abdulrasheed Bawa, has honoured the invitation by the Department of State Services.

The secrete police invited the suspended EFCC boss immediately after the approval of his suspension by President Bola Tinubu.

Recall that the president suspended Bawa over what he described as weighty allegations against him.

However, in a statement by the service spokesperson, Peter Afunanya, on Wednesday night, he explained that his invitation was on “investigative activities concerning him”.

The statement read, “The Department of State Services has invited Abdulrasheed Bawa, the suspended Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission. Bawa arrived a few hours ago. The invitation relates to some investigative activities concerning him.”

There have been several allegations against Bawa in the past.

The immediate past Governor of Zamfara State, Bello Matawalle in an interview with BBC Hausa in May accused Bawa of demanding a $2m bribe from him.

Also, in February the Kogi state government accused the EFCC led by Bawa of being a “pawn in the hands of political opponents in a bid to satisfy certain political interests.”
