The association of contributory pensions retirees has alleged that the state bureau of pension are extorting them of their pension and also been selective in payment entitlements.
According to the pond news report, said, “the association vice chairman, Mr Anthony Osanekwu made the allegations during a meeting with the state deputy governor ,Sir Monday Oyeme”.
Osanekwu said ” a situation where selective payments are made depending on the retirees connection to the bureau of state pension”
The vice chairman “accused the pension fund administrators for delays in payment to retirees after government had released funds”
He ” raised the issue of the pension fund administrators refusal to pay bulk sum to retirees on payment of harmonization money”
He therefore passionately appealed to the deputy governor to use his good offices to address the concerns of the senior citizens.
Responding, Onyeme promised to carry the pensioners plight to his principal, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.
He disclosed that the government would speedily address the issues raised.
Said the deputy governor :’I want to thank you for your very peaceful disposition. I want to thank you for being the elders that you are, and I want to assure you that this government is a listening government. It is a government that is people oriented and whatever we think we can do as a government to alleviate the sufferings of our citizens, we will gladly do.’
