Over 840 Under-equipped Nigerian Soldiers have killed by Boko Haram, Ali Ndume speaks

The chairman, senate committee on Army, has expressed worry over the state of the military equipment the Nigerian Army are combating insurgency with, saying that 847 Nigerian Army have been slaughtered by the Boko Haram, from 2013 till date, and were buried in military cemetery in Maiduguri, Borno state capital.

Ndume said the figure did not include soldiers killed by the insurgents but buried in other military cemeteries.

Ndume who disclosed this while addressing Newsmen after the committee returned from a trip to Maiduguri said the number of soldiers confronting insurgents were inadequate, calling on the government to recruit more troops.

He further said the senate panel was already investigating allegations that some non-governmental organisations were working with Boko Haram.

In September, the army blacklisted Mercy Corps and Action Against Hunger, some international NGOs, and shut their offices in the north-east.
