Cisco Network Academy has named Igbinedion University Okada(IUO) as host for its South-South Digital Skills and Entrepreneurship Development Workshop.
David Ekpah,South-South Representative of Cisco Academy System Nigeria,disclosed this during a courtesy visit to the university on Thursday in Okada.
Ekpah said Cisco International is happy to be part of the university’s transformational agenda which has positioned the university as one of the fast growing university in Nigeria.
He expressed the satisfaction of Cisco International at the enthusiasm and commitment of IUO towards Cisco programs which has resulted in the establishment of a Cisco Academy in the university.
He said that IUO has the highest numbers of trained Cisco participants which was 100 in number,adding that 58 of them were trained to be instructors.
Ekpah informed the university that Cisco is currently considering holding its Safari workshop which is one of the biggest continental workshop in Africa at Igbinedion University Okada(IUO).
“The workshop scheduled for September 23rd-28th 2019 would attract 30 institutions across the south-south region”.
“Cisco is ready to integrate its curriculum with the university’s GST,which would see students taking courses in IT essentials from their 100 level”.
“We would launch certification short courses cyber security in IUO during the South-South zonal workshop”,he said.
Prof Lawrence Ezemonye,the Vice Chancellor of Igbinedion University Okada(IUO) who spoke,thanked the representatives of Cisco for the support enjoyed by the university from Cisco.
Ezemonye reiterated his commitment and that of the university’s to make innovations and entrepreneurship all inclusive through digital application.
“The university would stop at nothing to ensure that it graduates not only to world class but to become world changer”,he said.
He commended the Cisco for its initiative for introducing cyber security program into its academy in Igbinedion University Okada.
