IUO VC sue for higher educational learning in universities

Prof Lawrence Ezemonye, Vice Chancellor of Igbinedion University Okada (IUO) has advised tertiary institutions to involved in higher educational learning in order to improve National Development.

Prof Ezemonye disclosed this in an interview to newsmen shortly after the opening ceremony of a workshop organized the Association of African Universities (AAU) and Igbinedion University Okada on Tuesday.

The Association of African Universities (AAU), whose headquarters is in Accra, Ghana, was founded November 12, 1967 in Rabat, Morocco, following the recommendations made at an earlier conference organized by the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in Antananarivo, Madagascar in September 1962 for the formation of such an apex organization.

Prof Ezemonye said the workshop on “Quality Assurance,Innovative research and Higher Education learning is centered on leadership skills.

“The idea of the association is to promote higher education in tertiary institutions in terms of delivery and service”.

“It transcends all disciplines and cut across all the regions of the continent.

“Igbinedion University keyed into this program because we want the University to be regional,national and go global in our knowledge exchange and our pursue for greatness and visibility.

“Our university must have a global visibility.Our blue sky graduate are dominating outside the country.One way to dominating is to create this visibility we have done.

“We are indeed grateful that the Secretary General gave us this hosting rights to host such a programme.

“This workshop is not only going to train our staff on quality education,it would also train them on leadership skills which is a primary need in higher education”.

“We have participants from Sudan,Ugandan and Ghana.This educational bond is what we want to build in academics”,he said.

Prof Elienne Ehile,Secretary General of the Association of African Universities was represented by Dr Violent Makuku,Quality Assurance Specialist and Harmonization of African Higher Education Quality Assurance and Accreditation Initiative Project officer.

Dr Makuku who spoke said that higher educational learning in institutions is the bedrock of every African university.

She said that the workshop aims at teaching staff and students leadership skills and also ICT.
