Medical practitioners urged to improve services through research

Prof. Omohua Adeleye of Research, Ethnics and Training, University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH), has advised medical practitioners to get more involved in research to improve their services.

Adeleye, the Deputy Chairman of Medical Advisory Committee (DCMAC) in the institution, gave the advice during a three-day workshop organised by the institution in Benin on Tuesday.

The workshop with the theme: “Quality Research for Quality Publication in Health and Social Sciences,’’ aims to strengthen work experience in the hospital.

“The aim of the workshop is to strengthen the capacity of researcher to do quality research globally.

“The more research you do, the more you have evidence for what you think you are doing.

“We have done a lot here in UBTH to provide a workshop base for not only clinical practice but also to have an opportunity for data that can influence the way practice is done.

“Our clinical care provides opportunities for health care solution in terms of research,’’ he said.

He said also that the workshop targeted researches at various levels and disciplines seeking to build skills for medical practitioners globally.

Adeleye, urged the researchers to be serious with the workshop, adding that at the end of the exercise they should be experts in study designs, data analysis and statistical analysis, among others.
