Reconnect with one another, UNIBEN VC advises Alumni

Prof Faraday Orunmwense,Vice Chancellor of the University of Benin has advised alumni of the university to reconnect with one another in order to provide panacea to societal challenges.

Prof Orunmwense gave the advise during the 40th Anniversary/Reunion of Faculty of Social Sciences, at the University Campus.

The Reunion ceremony of the faculty that is tagged “Reconnecting with my Alma Mater” is aimed at making old students of the university reconnect,creating solutions to problems of employment in the society.

“I welcome everyone heartily to this auspicious which is the 40th anniversary of the Faculty of Social Sciences”.

“First and foremost,let me commend the distinguish alumni of the faculty for their ingenuity in putting up an event like this.I commend your untiring efforts at sustaining this relationship you have with your alma mater”.

“The Faculty of Social Sciences of this great institution has had a very eventful history worthy of rave reviews since it’s inception in 1979”.

“One cardinal objective of the University of Benin is to provide panacea to societal challenge and I am indeed very happy that you all are partnering with us on this through your numerous contributions”.

In his speech,Prof Benson Osadolor,Head of Department of History and International Studies Faculty of Arts and guest lecturer said the aim of the program is to engage old students to connect with friends.

He said “going back to campus is like homecoming for all alumni to enjoy what the university offers beyond graduation”.

He said that there is advantages of getting in touch range from reconnecting with former classmates to enable networking opportunities for career advancement and supporting the university’s vision for the future.

Prof Osadolor said the gathering is to continually engage the old students to benefit from another and enrich themselves.

The Dean of Faculty of Social Sciences in Uniben,Prof M.O Asikhia who also spoke said the reunion would provide opportunity for reconnection and encourage students aspire to greater heights.

He called on all alumni to lay the foundation for rejuvenation of the Faculty of Social Sciences to enable upcoming learn in a conducive environment.
